Montreal — the tradition contrasting big city splendour and bending town that supplies you with a dose of classic charm, whilst leaving you pleasantly stuffed to the brim with the best coffee of the country. During your time in Montreal, you will undoubtedly be overwhelmed by its sheer beauty, grace that was inherent and history, accompanied by its own new laid-back, revolutionary and creative way of life. You’d be a fool to not spend a large part of your time discovering its many Cafes and tasting first-hand the yummy coffee in all of Canada. Listed below are a few of my favourites from the city.

Tommy Cafe

200 Notre-Dame Ouest Vieux Montreal
Situated in the heart of Vieux Montreal, otherwise known as old Montreal, Tommy Cafe captures the essence of old meets new, elegantly satisfying its historic architectural and building features with trendy beverages and trendy decoration. The inside is spacious and light, with an array of areas to sit and enjoy your coffee. There are booths and tables on a variety of levels, supplying it. Tommy Cafe is located a matter of meters away from Basilique Notre-Dame, the breath-taking nineteenth Century Cathedral’s tourist hotpot, so its definitely tough to overlook. Additionally, for a coffee house put in the existence of unmissable sights and numerous tourist attractions, the food and drink here is priced moderately. Normally, you would expect to pay around $3 to get a filter coffee, which can be big, and around $2-3 for a pastry, whilst cakes and cakes range from around $8-10, and it is totally worthwhile. Since you’ll end up returning again and again if you’re in the old town district A visit to Montreal signifies a visit to Tommy Cafe; coffee, staff and its inside are well worth the visit, and unbeatable.

Cantinho De Lisboa

356 St-Paul, Montréal, QC H2Y 2A6
This Portuguese Market style cafe provides you the chance to look around and purchase homemade, organic goods inspired by the authentic Portuguese Charm, whilst also being able to sit back, relax and enjoy fresh coffee and pastries. Upon arrival at Cantinho De Lisboa, you’ll experience vibrant, dazzling colours like nowhere else. Overwhelming yellows and oranges hit a feeling within of becoming in Portugal itself. This Old Town hotspot is busy and bustling with tourists and locals alike, all with the intention — drinking the coffee it serves. The java is gorgeous; you will discover flavours that linger upon the palette for a while afterwards, and aromas. Like many places in Montreal, Cantinho De Lisboa is extremely reasonable in terms of pricing, such as a city that exudes so much sophistication and charm, you’re expect to dish out around $5-7 for one of the café’s flavorful coffees and freshly baked pastries. Any ideal day in Montreal calls for a trip whether it be a dinner stop, or merely a opportunity to break your legs and catch up on a few people watching!

Pikolo Espresso Bar

3418B Avenue du Parc Montréal, QC H2X 2H5
An espresso in Pikolo is certain to make you wonder what coffee ought to be. The aromatic allure of the coffee bar that is miniscule brings you to its world of unique and earthly tasting espresso that is so deeply rich both in color and bitterness, you will end up subconsciously comparing all coffees that are future to it. Situated upon Avenue du Parc, located near prominent tourist destinations such as the University grounds and Places des Arts, the espresso bar encompasses lifestyle that is artistic and student. Flaunting its way of java and stripped style back, Pikolo feels strangely. People from across Montreal flock to get a taste of the special charm of Pikolo. Given that it’s a coffee house that was small, people are crammed into sharing tables and all corners, which funnily enough adds to its individuality and friendly character. Pikolo location and definitely takes you back to a different time, providing coffee and excellent service.

Olive et Gourmando

351 Saint Paul W. Montreal, QC H2Y 2A7
Olive et Gourmando is one of the most amazing artisan festivals in all of Montreal. Serving possibly the world’s most photogenic food and coffee, you’ll be swept off your feet as soon as you step in the door. The scents that are discharged from this total sanctuary of breads and freshly baked pastries are to expire, and the whole interior is bursting with life and clients at all hours of the day. O&G is located in the old city hidden among the rough exterior of historical buildings which somewhat mimic the streets of Paris of Montreal. Ranging to lunch and brunch, meals served in O&G’s principal theme is of French cuisine using a unique Montreal twist, providing it with the edge it deserves. This artisan bakery and cafe is constantly occupied, as so many locals and tourists alike are desperate for a taste of its own magic, so unfortunately you may be asked to wait a short while until you can be seated, but believe me, you won’t regret it!

Cafe Santropol

990 rue Saint-Urbain, Montréal, QC H2W 1K2
Cafe Santrapol
is on a totally different level to whatever you’ve seen before — expect piled-high sandwiches which prove that your eyes are bigger than your stomach, also unique coffee in a beautiful setting. Predominantly a vegetarian style restaurant with outside chairs and rooftop garden, Cafe Santropol looks merely like a house from the outside, but you are bombarded with life and the rich odor of freshly brewed java. Like many cafes in Montreal, anything goes, so when it comes to Cafe Santropol, your coffee will be served in a mug you’d expect to find in your own kitchen cabinet. The mugs are entirely different and arbitrary, giving a homely feel to the place. The inside is bursting with shelves of books which you may purchase and shelves piled high with independently grown coffee beans and more. The perfect time would be on a warm summer’s day with a sandwich, a book along with a cold drink.
