Review: Spa Mika and Tea at the Dorsett Shepherds Bush

It’s easy to walk past the Dorsett Shepherds Bush. Its discreet facade, place such as the now shuttered old Walkabout and The Empire provides hotel guests plenty of solitude. But step inside, and you are instantly reminded of its foundation.

The interiors ooze old Hollywood glamour. Shimmering over-sized portraits of Audrey Hepburn and Marilyn Monroe beckon in you. The balconies on every floor visible from the enormous atrium of the hotel, are reminiscent of show reels.

By comparison the hotel’s wellness refuge, SpaMika, is an image of modernity, with glass panes that give way to sprawling views across West London and crisp spa facilities. Dorsett SpaMika

Before indulging in a treatment followed by a sumptuous afternoon 42, in which guests can enjoy access to the sauna and steam room for a hour, I had been encouraged to try the Spa Taster and Afternoon Tea bundle of the Dorsett.

The signature therapy on offer is an Elemis facial, that promotes healthy cell renewal, circulation and firmness, among other benefits. However I went for a massage and has been impressed by the wisdom of the masseuse, who took care to work out several knots in my shoulders.

Between surrendering into my masseuse’s supple hands and snoozing at the Sauna, I took a few moments to shoot some refreshments in the luxurious perspective sofa of the spa, burying myself in the lavish robe and slippers provided.

To the Atrium Jin Bar, where afternoon tea was being served, lift flew down after the treatment. Compared to the afternoon teas available, the collection of delicacies served at the Dorsett is a pleasure to the eyes, using treats such as rainbow sandwiches which used multicoloured breads flavoured with coconut or beetroot.

Red velvet cupcakes with sour palate cleansers and edible garnishes balance brownie bites and the indulgent chocolate truffles from.   The afternoon tea menu infinite and additionally offers array of loose leaf teas that are distinctive. Our server was an outstanding host, who kindly explained everything and has been instant to provide assistance.

I left feeling really pampered and satisfied . It was a great way without even needing to leave the city to spend a relaxing afternoon.

Afternoon Tea bundle and the Spa taster costs # 84 per person and includes a therapy to health spa facilities and a classic afternoon tea.
