Le Bistrot de Jef Review — Michelin star dining in the South of France

We visited with the French Provence with Princess Cruises to determine just what their excursions have to offer you. On this excursion we ate our lunch at Le Bistrot de Jef, there ran a Michelin star restaurant from chef’s Jean-François Bérard. Nestled in a corner of La Cadière-d’Azur it exudes rustic charm, it front doing to pre-empt one of the beautiful harbor within. It feels like entering a Narnia of gourmet wonderment — an ethereal romanticism is offered by little corridors with stripes hanging from the ceiling, before way into a door thrown open to reveal panoramic views over the Provence. The smells of lavender and lavender fill the atmosphere and a bright rolling of colours paves the way for mealtime. The tables are set atop rock steps resulting in a quaint outdoor pool, of the hillside.

After sitting down it’s simple to become enchanted by the views and the air that you forget you are there to eat. The air was fragrant, sunlight shone down, a gentle breeze gently teased at my own hair and a gentle music wafted in through the chimney. Pure bliss. The menu itself, as with Michelin star institutions, was easy, focusing on the quality instead of quantity. Fish has been caught fresh that morning and you could tell, it was tender and delicious, an effervescent of flavours mingling on the tongue. The accompanying wine was from Domaine Lou Capela as is the speciality of the area. It was drinking with a slight kick. Dessert was a combo of fruit sorbets, again, a real treat to this palette. That is Michelin Star without a hefty price tag, however there is absolutely no compromise each are as unique as the environment themselves. There’s absolutely no pretentious staff- some thing downplayed in British dining.

Must visit for a taste of France when going to the South of France le Bistrot de Jef is a true. The Michelin Star of it is well deserved and you’d be hard pressed to find better to while away the hours, fine wine in hand, locate food ahead of you and you being rolled under by views.
